Forms in the TOPdesk Self Service Portal are the starting point of service provision for many organizations. They are recognizable, integrated into TOPdesk, and do what they need to do. At the same time, these forms are largely static and have limited expandability, especially in cloud environments. And you notice that as soon as processes become more complex.
SAS builds on this
With our SAS Forms module, we extend the TOPdesk SSP functionally, without abandoning the TOPdesk principle. The SSP remains the starting point for the user, and TOPdesk remains in charge of registration, status, and control.
The difference lies in what happens after the form.
With the SAS Forms module, forms become dynamic and smart. They can retrieve data from TOPdesk, combine with other sources, compare, model, and specifically write back. A form not only starts a ticket but also sets a complete process in motion.
In combination with SAS Automations, we perform actions fully automatically. Think of automatically assigning Azure or AD security groups and, very importantly: including administrative recording. TOPdesk registers the request, SAS executes the process, monitors the execution, and links the result back. An additional advantage is that administrators need to access tooling such as Azure and/or AD less often.
From SAS, you can also manage this, with options such as “re-run” or re-run parts of the chain, without actual access to all the sources and/or even TOPdesk.
Just a quick note: One link almost never remains one link. By directly opting for central control, you prevent complexity from arising later….SAS helps you think ahead! Get in contact and we’ll go through it!
No manual work. No separate scripts. No shadow processes.
Organizations are increasingly seeing this difference in cloud migrations. The classic TOPdesk forms offer insufficient flexibility, while the need for automation is increasing. SAS makes the SSP scalable, extensible, and ready for the future. Start building directly in Qixium!
TOPdesk for control and registration.
SAS for execution, flexibility and automation.
From XFG to SAS Forms: customisation without legacy
Within TOPdesk, the XML Form Generator (XFG) is a well-known name. Many organizations have used it in the past to build extensive custom forms. However, this framework has been phased out and is no longer supported. The current WYSIWYG forms in the TOPdesk SSP have taken their place, but functionally offer only part of what was possible with XFG.
SAS seamlessly connects to this. With the SAS Forms module, XFG-like structures can be adopted one-to-one and further improved. Complex logic, reuse of components, validations, and data links remain possible, without being dependent on outdated customisation within TOPdesk. This not only replaces XFG, but also makes forms directly future-proof within the SSP.
